March Reading Wrap Up – farewell to the longest month in existence

march wrap up

hello friends,

after a very successful march blogging month, i am sliding back into my non-blogging groove and NOT getting anything accomplished blogging-wise but i refuse to let it pull me down, so here we are, 2 weeks late, but a wrap up nonetheless.

March was a great month for me in certain ways. I made my grand blogging return (!!) with 8 posts published I can’t believe I actually managed that?? who is she?? i want her back and was on top of my blog hopping too.

I was able to read 12 books and actually enjoy some movies too we don’t talk about movies here because i don’t know how to be objective with movies. i just watch and go… that made me smile for 0.45 seconds, 5 stars!! give this damn movie an emmy!!

On the other hand, march was the longest month of existence. and also the month the self-isolation really kicked in and this whole virus situation got really serious and since I don’t want to talk about depressing, scary real life things, let’s skip that and get straight to the wrap up.

I read a total of 12 books. 3 physical books πŸ“•, 6 e-books πŸ“±, & 3 audiobooks 🎧
YARC reads will be represented with this emoji: 🍚 i’m currently at 6/50!

Links will take you to my reviews for each book.

mar wrapup1

πŸ“• A Perilous Undertaking: ✦✦✦✦✧ (4.5 stars)

this is the second book in a historic mystery series and MY GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! the characters absolutely own my heart and will keep denying their stupid love for each other just to torment me.

So far, this is my favourite book from the series.

πŸ“± Once Upon An Eid:✦✦✦✦✧ 🍚

i was SO FORTUNATE to get this ARC early and oh my goodness, it made my heart SO SOFT πŸ₯Ίβ€οΈ it gave me the most wonderful, warm, happy, celebratory feelings and it has the most special place in my heart

πŸ“±Β Undercover Bromance:✦✦✦✦✧ (4.5 stars)

I NEVER WANT THIS SERIES TO END!!! I LOVE THESE BROMANCE BOYS SO MUCH!!! this is a companion series that follows these big, strong, tough guys that have made their own romance bookclub in order to learn how to keep their love lives thriving.

ugh i love it so much

πŸ“• Supernova:✦✦✦✧✧

So. I was 13 seconds away from dnfing this book bc while I LOVE marissa meyer, this series wasn’t the greatest for me. I felt it was overly long for no reason and i wasn’t invested 100% but the last 100 pages were INCREDIBLE and im kinda glad i stuck around for it.

🎧 Sing, Unburied, Sing: ✦✦✧✧✧

THIS BOOK HURT but it’s so weird, maybe too weird and obscure for me?? idk, i feel like i missed a lot of the symbolism i was supposed to benefit from :/

mar wrapup2

πŸ“± Sheets: ✦✦✦✦✧

this is the CUTESTΒ story about a lonely girl and a sad lonely ghost and their friendship and the art is SO CUTE and the story is SO CUTE and im just πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί

πŸ“± Almost American Girl: ✦✦✦✧✧ 🍚

I really liked this graphic memoir novel. The art is beautiful but there were some moments that i grew bored (I FEEL SO AWFUL FOR SAYING THAT ABOUT SOMEONE’S LIFE) but idk, rating memoirs is Hard.

🎧 My Oxford Year: ✦✦✦✦✧

jokes on me for thinking this was a cute, fluffy romcom. IT WAS NOT. It HURT MY HEART. but guess what? the audiobook narrator is phenomenal and i would like her to narrate my life thank you very much.

πŸ“±Β Sorcery of Throns: ✦✦✧✧✧

everyone who loved this book, close your eyes, im sorry for the betrayal. i found it SO HARD to connect with the story bc the plot made no sense?? and okay the characters are great but it didn’t save the book for me. don’t hate me pls

πŸ“±Β How to Hack a Heartbreak: ✦✦✧✧✧ (1.5 stars)

this was a Disasterβ„’ i disliked the characters, they were incredibly juvenile, the love interest was πŸ™„πŸ™„, and the entire book was centered around petty people doing stupid things.

πŸ“•Β A Treacherous Curse: ✦✦✦✦✧ (4.5 stars)

🎧 Where the Crawdads Sing: ✦✦✦✦✧ (4.5 stars)

this was such a deeply profound story of a little girl and the awful circumstances in her life that leave her to fend for herself. The isolation and loneliness is absolutely heartbreaking but also so insightful to see her survival methods in such a descriptive and personal way.

i loved this so much

  1. My Oxford Year really snuck up on me and walloped me in the feels, but I loved it! I was actually mad at myself for letting the ARC sit unread for a year (and then listening to the audiobook from the library), but I am happy I finally got it on my TBR, because it was stupendous. The whole idea of valuing the time you get with those you love is a beautiful one.

  2. It’s good to hear you had a great reading month in March! πŸ™‚ Also I loved to see all those blog posts! I kinda missed them on my feed and was very happy to have them back! XD I wish you a wonderful April and hope that it will turn out to be a great month as well. ❀

  3. Haha I love how you described liking movies because that is literally me. One time my friend said is there even a movie you don’t like because I’m pretty happy with any πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I heard about the bromance books and the premise sounded so cool 😍 I haven’t picked up the first one yet though !!

Sheets literally looks the cutest !! Everyone needs that adorableness in their life I feel!!

I agree with you about sorcery of thorns to be honest. I liked the characters but I found it lacking overall!!

Ooh.. good luck for all your goals for April !! You can do this !! I hope you writing goes well and I need to see Parasite as well !!!

I hope you have a great rest of April and happy reading !! πŸ’•πŸ’•

  4. Late wrap-ups are totally okay–I do them all the time! I only posted my March wrap-up a few days ago and I’ve def posted ones like almost 4 weeks after the month ended. πŸ˜…

Glad to see you read a lot of great books! Oooh, I’ve been eyeing Oxford Year for a bit now–glad to know it’s good! And that’s a bummer about Sorcery of Thorns. I haven’t read it yet but it’s been on my shelf for awhile now

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR GOALS! You got this (tho don’t stress yourself out over them–just be proud of what you do get accomplished)!! ❀ Happy reading & writing! πŸ™‚

  5. I missed your posts a ton and was so happy to see them pop up in my feed again in March! ❀ Congrats on reading so much (me and my pathetic 14 books read this year are quaking)! I'm so sad to hear you didn't enjoy Sorcery of Thorns! I don't know if I'll read or not because the synopsis isn't something I'd normally gravitate towards… but it gets so much hype! It sucks that you didn't like it, but on the bright side it looks like you read a ton of other great books this month! I've heard wonderful things about A Perilous Undertaking, so I definitely need to read it sometime soon.

    Great wrap-up! πŸ˜€

  6. march indeed was my favorite month because you came back to the blogging world :o)

but also your tiny comment about not being able to talk about movies!! i am also the exact same… i have no taste when it comes to movies, i only have “wow i enjoyed it, 5 stars!” and “eh, 2 stars” but i wish i could be a quirky film girl :((

i am very happy for you about once in an eid!!! i always get excited whenever you read some good muslim rep books bc you deserve them. also i see u with the small “finish wip”… you’re gonna do it we all believe in you!! and damn i also haven’t watched parasite let me know how it goes (i’ve heard great things about a certain steamy scene 😍😍😍)

  7. Great job!! 12 books is amazing πŸ˜€ I’m sorry to hear you didn’t like the Renegades trilogy :// I’m glad you liked the ending tho, at least it saved that for you!! And it’s totally okay if you share what you’ve been watching as well, I’m super emotional when it comes to content, so my emotions cloud my critical judgment hahaha Good luck with your WIP this month!! ❀

  8. March was insane… I don’t think I’ll ever forget it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I hope you’re having a wonderful April, my friend! I finished Supernova in January and really enjoyed it, but the first two weren’t as good imo. I adored The Lunar Chronicles, and it just didn’t have that wow factor for me either.

  9. you published eight posts in March? what a queen!!! i can only aspire 😞😞

omg you rated Sorcery of Thorns 2 stars… i am not looking… (but i totally get why you didn’t like it πŸ˜‚ it’s not for everyone & it has its flaws.) and I once had A Curious Beginning, but i removed it since i didn’t see anyone talking about it & i’m super strict with the books i add to my TBR—mayhaps I should add it back?

ahhh, good luck with camp nano!! i am confident that you’ll make excellent progress on your wip ❀ ❀ i actually have a story idea, but there are so many things i have to figure out first before i can finally write it it's the worst πŸ₯Ί also, you really have to watch Parasite!! i know it's super hyped, but its messages and the twists it takes are so gooood.

i hope you're having a wonderful April rn!!

  10. First of all I haven’t seen parasite too – so don’t feel so bad. And second, I’m so happy you enjoyed Once Upon An Eid bc I wanted to read it after Ramadan and knowing you liked it makes me even more excited for it! Third, Ramadan Kareem ❀ ❀ ❀ , I really hope you're having a blessed time and accomplishing all your goals.
ps. I hope camp nanowrimo is also going well, but if it isn't just know that you're amazing and it's okay bc there's always another time to kick ass in july πŸ™‚

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes ma’am!! you HAVE to read Once Upon An Eid soon it’s so wonderful and wholesome and so beautifully sweet, i hope you enjoy it as much as i did
Ramadan Mubarak hayati πŸ’–πŸ’– thank you!! i hope you and your family are having a blessed and amazing month

p.s. you’re so kind omg im going to cry. love youuuu 😭 camp nano is actually going REALLY well for me, it’s going to need a Lot of editing when i finish but!!!! progress is progress!!

i hope you’re having an amazing month and reading the best books πŸ’ž

  11. (the way you talk about movies is so relatable. i don’t watch a lot of highly acclaimed things, but i can tell you i’ve probably given 5 stars to all the rom-coms i watch. funny? adorable? yay we stan).
12 books is an amazing number and the one i’m aiming for april. so far, i’ve only read nine and we only have a few days left of the month, but it’s fine. (not really).
the bromance series sounds SO good!!! i really need to start it already. i’m glad the second one was just as good as the first!
i hope you’ve had a great april so far and that camp nano went successfully! πŸ’›

  12. Ooooh, Where the Crawdads Sing is actually the book of the month at my book club, so I’m really happy that you thought so highly of it! It’s definitely not a book I’d choose to read on my own but I’m keen to step outside of my comfort zone a little πŸ˜€

I hope you’re having an awesome May so far!! Can’t believe how fast April went by in comparison to the snail pace of March 😨
