so see what happened was that, my best friend (hi little bee!! 🥺) and i decided that we would make february the month of high-fantasies. and while the intention was completely there, it turned out to be the month of ignoring fantasies bc as you will see, i,,,,,only read 2 fantasy books for the entire month.
granted i did manage to complete a 1200+ paged brandon sanderson, but AFTER that, i literally went on the biggest contemporary binge ever and i think that’s the best example of what comes of me trying to set a strict tbr.
RIP to my beautiful 10+ fantasy book TBR, we had hope but you didn’t come through.
I read a total of 12 books. 4 physical books 📕, 4 e-books 📱, & 4 audiobooks 🎧
YARC reads will be represented with this emoji: 🍚 i’m currently at 4/50!
Links will take you to my reviews for each book.
📕 Well Met: ✦✦✦✦✧
this was such a sweet romcom that had deep moments of personal, family, and friendship growth. it has such a cute, soft, small town setting and had a beautiful enemies-to-lovers romance that had me soooo invested
🎧 American Royals:✦✦✦✧✧
the ending is what brought this book up in my eyes. excellent reveal and conclusion to the book. overall it was an interesting glimpse into what the world would look like if america had royal family. lots of drama, politics, and even more drama. entertaining but also kind of overdone?? idk
📕 The Blade Itself: ✦✦✧✧✧
uhhhhhh, this book took 500 pages to build some strong characters but like,,,,,had no plot so what am i supposed to do with this information???
📱 Wilder Girls: ✦✦✦✧✧ (3.5 stars)
this was sosoososososo interesting and absolutely horrifying and i loved the creepy atmosphere and the character profiles. my only issue was that the ENDING left me so underwhelmed and desperate for more
🎧 Oathbringer: ✦✦✦✦✦
LOL SANDERSON COMING FOR MY THROAT ONCE AGAIN!!!!!
📱 Yes No Maybe So: ✦✧✧✧✧
the migraine that HITS me when i think of this book, wow. muslim main characters really only have one narrative and it’s NOT the one i want. i wrote a full rant review if anyone cares to hear my full thoughts.
📱 Tweet Cute: ✦✦✦✦✧ (4.5 stars)
this checks ALL THE BOXES: angsty, banter filled, family business rivalry, main character who is an amazing baker, soft boy
i’m just so in love
🎧 The Other Mrs.: ✦✦✦✧✧
this was a really interesting thriller. i think it’s a great place to start for someone new to the genre bc it includes a lot of well-known thriller reveals. it’s definitely entertaining but also kind of predictable (to meeeee)
📕 The Flatshare: ✦✦✦✦✧ (4.5 stars)
oh my god!!! this book was everything i needed. it’s about flatmates who share their flat at different times, so technically they never meet but it’s filled with so many sweet, funny, wholesome moments and goes into deeper topics like emotional abuse and gaslighting and was just all around amazing.
🎧 Loveboat, Taipei: ✦✦✧✧✧
everything about this book fell flat to me. i felt like i read this same story of an asian girl going back home and trying to break out of her parents strict rules so many times and this wasn’t one that was memorable
📱 Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: ✦✦✦✧✧ (3.5 stars) 🍚
introvert nation rise!!!! this had adorable illustrations and was so relatable.
📕 The How and the Why: ✦✦✧✧✧
i really don’t want to talk negatively about this book bc it’s about such a personal story of adoption and i genuinely found nothing wrong with it. i just couldn’t connect with the characters and felt too much time was spent on the side plots rather than the main story.
and there we have my february wrap up! i definitely anticipated reading more books this month but eh, i had a really good time with most of them, so i cannot complain.
how was your february? did you manage to read any of these books I listed? what was your favourite book of the month? hope you’re having an amazing march!
